Battery-powered bicycle lights have been officially allowed in Germany only since last year. Thanks to its Bike Light Set, VARTA Consumer is set to launch an innovative headlight and taillight that fully comply with German road safety regulation and ensure additional road safety.
VARTA for added Safety at Dawn and Dusk
The VARTA set features an extremely powerful headlight (up to 30 lux) that guarantees high visibility for cyclists. With an impressive 120 lumens, its beam shines up to 92 meters – almost as far as motorcycle headlights. The headlight’s 3 Watt Cree high-performance LED provide its tremendous light yield. Even in very dark road situations, the turbo mode ensures good visibility and an added degree of safety. In most situations, on well-lit roads and at dawn and dusk, cyclists can switch the headlight to energy-saving mode, increasing the service life of the batteries.
It Shines – in any wind and weather situation
Headlight as well as taillight features a practical low battery indicator that informs cyclists of weak batteries before it is too late. Both the headlight and the matching taillight are water resistant (IPX 4) for unrestricted functionality in windy and wet weather. Thanks to three red LEDs the taillight shines with a battery runtime of up to 60 hours. An angle of 220 degrees ensures that cyclists can be seen from nearly every perspective. Fixing the lights is practical and easy. They can be attached directly to the bike without tools and without much effort.

The Bike Light Set costs €39.99. It comes with 5 AAA High Energy batteries and is set to hit store shelves in May 2014.
